RapCastle: How did you come up with a stage name?
7th Ward Shorty: Basically I’ve always wanted to remain authentic, real , down to earth. So, I felt it to be necessary to keep the name everyone has also referred to me by.
RapCastle: How would you describe the music that you typically create?
7th Ward Shorty: Mind altering, mood altering, trustworthy, meaningful, heartfelt, conscious, just to name a few.
RapCastle: What’s the coolest, most important show you’ve played to date?
7th Ward Shorty: Super Sunday in New Orleans was probably the coolest but the most important one was Exxpose your beauty fashion show.
RapCastle: Who would you most like to collaborate with?
7th Ward Shorty: Drake
RapCastle: Who do people say you sound like?
7th Ward Shorty: People do not compare me to any artist in the past or present. I’m in my own lane by developing my own style.
RapCastle: What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?
7th Ward Shorty: I was sentenced to 10 years in prison for which I done 9 of the 10 for armed robbery. I learned from this and I am a better person from the experiences.
RapCastle: What is the most useless talent you have?
7th Ward Shorty: I have the ability to name every plant known to man in English and Latin I know the entire botanicle system of nomenclature
RapCastle: What would you have done differently if you knew then what you know now?
7th Ward Shorty: I would’ve listened more to teachers, my parents, my peers that were behind me. I would have not committed any crime at all.
RapCastle: What’s your best advice for handling criticism?
7th Ward Shorty: Hear it, filter it, and keep it pushing.
RapCastle: What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received about your music?
7th Ward Shorty: I’ve had many folks that would meet me and tell me that certain songs they’ve heard by me made them cry.
